About me
I'm a Kirikiriroa-based artist making colourful, layered, tactile paintings full of hidden texture and things worth finding.
I came to painting the way a lot of things happen in my life, which is that I just decided to have a go. I have ADHD, and somewhere along the way I discovered that painting does something words never quite could. My brain loves the layers, the colour, the building up of texture and detail, and it quiets things down in a way not much else does.
My work is rooted in the New Zealand landscape, particularly native botanicals, coastal light, and the particular green of this place. I paint big and bold, and I hide things in my work for people who look closely enough to find them.
When I'm not in the studio I'm singing! I'm also a professional performer and vocal coach and run a production company focused on bringing world-class training opportunities to Kiwi performers.
If something catches your eye, originals are available through the shop. If you have something specific in mind I'd love to hear from you, commissions are open and I genuinely enjoy the conversation.
